About Alex V. Cruz
Alex V. Cruz is a speculative fiction writer born in Paterson, New Jersey, and raised in the Dominican Republic. His stories draw on his Dominican roots and his teenage years in Paterson. He graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University, where he studied Creative Writing and Hispanic Studies, and earned an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish from New York University. A 2022 Clarion West and 2021 Tin House alum, he has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Somos en Escrito’s Other Fiction prize. His fiction has appeared in Fantasy Magazine, SmokeLong, LatineLit, and other publications. He teaches language and literature at the college level and shares his home with two dogs and two cats.
